Our Story
Our story began when Groundspeak made Block Parties available to the rest of the world via a blog post in December 2023. Groundspeak announced that any event in 2025 eligible for Mega or Giga status can instead be hosted as a Block Party and will feature the exclusive Block Party icon. This initiative is part of their plan to celebrate 25 years of geocaching with a global series of events, rather than limiting the celebration to a single gathering in Seattle. This opens the door for more geocachers around the world to take part in the anniversary festivities with less travel required!
Mick knew that the stunning location of the Sunshine Coast would be the perfect back drop for a Block Party to be hosted in Queensland. He put out a call to some fellow Geocachers and soon a committee was founded and the planning could begin.
